What is a Process Server?
A Process Server is an individual who is authorized to execute a service of process upon a party to a legal action. The execution of a process is conducted by someone of the age 18 or older who is not a party to the suit.
Anyone who serves more than 10 services of process within California during one calendar year is required to register as a Process Server in the county within which he or she resides. There are some exceptions to the rule (e.g. Sheriffs, Marshals, Attorneys and their employees, and other government officials).
